[puulquote]The future is not some place we are going to but one we are creating. The paths to it are not found but made. – John Schaar[/pullquote]
None of us is ever going to find her (or his) future. The future is not something that suddenly appears out of the blue. Nor is it a place we stumble upon by accident. At least not if it is the future you desire, the one you really want, your dream. The only future that you may find by waiting is one that you didn’t plan and that you had not control over. Is that what you want? I don’t think so.
Bronnie Ware is an Australian nurse. She who spent l years caring for patients in the last 12 weeks of their lives. She discovered that many of them shared some common traits. One of those was the regrets they had, the things they wished they had done differently, and now it was too late. The regret number one was this: “I wish I’d had the courage to live a life true to myself, not the life others expected of me.” They let others and their own circumstances be the principle forces in making their future, in shaping their lives.
If you don’t want that to be your regret, start taking an active role in creating the future just the way you want it. Here is the definition of creating.
- to cause to come into being, as something unique that would not naturally evolve or that is not made by ordinary processes.
- to evolve from one’s own thought or imagination, as a work of art or an invention.
Creating is like making something out of nothing. All you have to begin with is a thought and your imagination. It sounds a bit like magic, and it is. Something from nothing. Are you doing that in your life? Are you in the process of creating something unique? Are you shaping your life into a work of art? I hope so. Because your future will be just the way you create it.
