People are always blaming circumstances for what they are. I don’t believe in circumstances. The people who get on in this world are the people who get up and look for the circumstances they want, and if they can’t find them, make them. – George Bernard Shaw.
How is it that two people can have the same job in the same company working for the same boss, one finds fulfillment, and the other only finds frustration? It is because both the fulfillment and the frustration don’t come from the company, the job, or the boss, it comes from you, from within.
How is it that two people go for a vacation in the mountains, one finds it amazingly beautiful and the other can only think of how bored he is? It is because both the beauty and the boredom don’t come from walking in the mountains, it comes from within, from you.
What you have to realize is that you are never the victim of your circumstances. Nobody can make you frustrated unless you let them. Nothing can make you feel bored unless you allow it. If you are looking for fulfillment in work, or a beautiful vacation, it doesn’t really matter where you are working, who you are with, or what you are doing. The fulfillment and beauty has to come from you. Once you realize this you will find that you can create beauty and happiness everywhere you go.
