Imagination is more important than knowledge. – Albert Einstein
Knowledge is great. I love learning. It is challenging and stimulating to read new books, learn different subjects and expand your understanding of whatever interests you. The more I study and learn, the more I realize how vast the world of knowledge is and how much more there is to learn. It is just like climbing a mountain. The higher you climb the more fantastic the view, the farther you can see, the wider your horizon. But knowledge alone is not enough, not by far. You see, knowledge is limited to what someone has already learned, something you can read about or be taught. Knowledge is like climbing that mountain and being limited to the trails that others before you have made. You can have an absolutely fantastic trip, but you will always be following others’ footsteps. You will always be limited.
But all the knowledge in the world would not be there today if it were not for people with imagination, people who had the hunger to learn more, the desire to go deeper. If it were not for people with the curiosity to ask questions about the seemingly improbable, the courage to look for answers to the seemingly impossible, and the confidence to question the accepted truths and facts of their day, we’d still be learning about why the earth is flat, and how the stars circle the earth. Faith
The world needs a few more crazy dreamers, people who are not afraid to use their imagination to create new possibilities. Companies need a few more innovators, people who are not afraid to question what is good in order to create what is great. Schools need educators who are not afraid to challenge students to go beyond the knowledge and limitations of books to the unlimited world of imagination.
You won’t reach your personal or professional goals and dreams by just following others’ trails. You have to be willing to break old boundaries, leave your comfort zone, and reach for the unknown. Learn all you can, but don’t let any limiting beliefs keep you back from your destiny and from reaching for the stars.
