It is our choices that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities. – J.K. Rowling
It is true that our choices show what we are, but it is also true that what we are shows us our choices. What we are is a direct result of the choices we have made. The way we live, what we do, who we are with, is a result of choices we’ve made. Sure, there may be other factors as well, but by and large, we are responsible for the lives we lead today, and if we want any changes and improvements in our lives, we must carefully examine the choices we’ve made, and change whatever needs to change.
If you are not so happy with where you are in life right now, chance are you would rather blame your problems on something or someone else. You can, but it would help at all. Casting blame on others is never the solution. The truth is that circumstances, just like abilities, don’t not really determine how our lives turn out. It can be an advantage to have great abilities, and living with perfect circumstances can be beneficial, but neither one of them is a determining factor in how successful you will be. I know many people with plenty of both who live miserable lives, because they continually make poor choices in life, and if you think about it, I’m sure you do to. What does define our future is the choices we make. It’s that simple. When you go for a drive, where you end up does not depend on the road you are on, but the direction you take and the turns you make.
It means that you or I or anyone else can succeed. All we need to do it make good choices. Learn what you can and develop your talents and abilities, but more than anything, make choices that will bring you the life you want and deserve. If you are looking to reach your goals and live you dreams, remember that your choices today affect tomorrow. Choose wisely.
