I believe everybody has a dream, whether they know it or not. There is a dream on the inside of each of us. Sometimes it’s not easy to uncover what our dream is. Sometimes we know what it is, but for some reason we don’t follow it, and it starts to fade.
Once you have a goal and a dream, you need to do something about it. But before you do, remember this. There are many things that will try to hinder you from living your dreams. There are plenty of obstacles that will attempt to get in your way. These hindrances could be lack of finances, bad planning, fear, worry, limiting beliefs, and the list goes on. But none of these difficulties make it impossible for you to reach that goal. They may hinder you and slow you down, but they can’t stop you. Hell or high water cannot stop you from living your dream unless you let them. But there are two big mistakes that make it truly impossible to reach your goals.
The first mistake is to follow a dream that isn’t really your dream, a dream you inherited from someone else. Maybe you are doing what somebody else suggested and you thought it was a good idea at the time. Maybe you didn’t really know what to do, and some opportunity opened up and you just took it for lack of a better choice. Teachers, friends and maybe in particular parents are often very free in passing on what they think our dream should be. That dream may be right for them, but you have to find something you truly believe in and have a passion for, something you are willing to bet on and invest in. Do you believe so strongly in your own dream you would bet on it? If so, go ahead! If not, find out why. Maybe it was not your dream to begin with. Maybe you never really questioned what you were told, and figured one dream is as good as another. But that’s not true.
The second mistake is thinking it is an impossible dream. No matter how big your dream or how crazy your goal may seem, nothing is impossible until you think it is. As long as you believe, as long as you are looking for solutions and answers instead of a way out, as long as you are moving forward instead of stopping or even retreating, you will reach your goal. It’s only when you stop believing and quit that you cannot win.
First, you have to find a dream that is truly yours. Second, you have to believe that you can reach it. Then, and only then, Start working to make that dream a reality.
All of our dreams can come true if we have the courage to pursue them. – Walt Disney
