I am Norwegian, but I was born in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia and lived there for 3 years. Then I lived 4 years in Chicago, and another 4 years in Geneva. When I was 11, my family moved to Bergen, Norway. The last 30 years I have lived in India, Nepal, and Thailand. In June 2018 I moved back to Norway,
As you can see, I have had an exciting and amazing life, living and working all over the world. Most of the last 30 years living in Asia I was working as a Christian volunteer, teaching orphans, visiting prisons, and doing disaster relief during floods and after the tsunami. I loved what I was doing.
But some years ago, things started to change. I had a growing feeling of dissatisfaction with where I was in life. I had stopped growing. I was not using my potential. I was really worried about what would happen, or not happen, if I did nothing, if I didn’t heed my inner voice telling me it was time to change.
I made my decision. I decided to leave the comfort of the familiar and to head into the unknown. I’m glad that, at the time, I didn’t know how difficult this journey would be. The next couple of years were tough, very difficult, filled with obstacles and challenges. At times it seemed like life had conspired against me and did it’s damnedest to keep me from making that change. But I was determined to make it, to change, to create the life I wanted, to be the best me I possibly could.
